ART
This is an area for creative and messy activities. A variety of art materials and smocks or aprons are accessible for the preschool children. Many preschoolers enjoy using the easel for creating their masterpieces.
SENSORY
This is a hands-on area for creative explorations. Your preschooler may enjoy a variety of materials found in the sensory table or in numerous sensory tubs. Some preschool favorites are water and bubbles, sand and sea shells, play dough or cornstarch and water.
DRAMATIC PLAY
This is an area that encourages creativity and imagination. Children learn by emulating adults in everyday roles, whether pretending to be Mom and Dad or occupational roles, such as, doctors or store clerks. Preschoolers grasp a greater awareness of the world around them through imaginative play.
MATH & SCIENCE
This area includes a variety of equipment for cognitive development. Games, puzzles and activities are
rotated regularly to compliment the weekly theme.
LANGUAGE
This area is a quiet, relaxed corner in the preschool classroom. A variety of literature is available and arranged in an orderly manner on book shelves. Soft seating, such as pillows, enhances the comfort of this reading corner. Your preschooler may also enjoy the puppets and flannel board along with flannel board story
MANIPULATIVES
This center contains a variety of toys to enhance fine motor and cognitive development. Preschoolers enjoy exploring the colorful toys together, at tables or on the carpeted floor. Shelves and bins are clearly labeled for easy storage and clean up.
LARGE MOTOR
A large open area of the preschool classroom is used for group games or other active movement activities. Preschoolers enjoy the opportunity to jump, hop, march and play the games with their friends either in the classroom or on the playground.
MUSIC & MOVEMENT
This center contains musical instruments, tapes and a tape player, song cards, books, and other musical props. Teachers often combine activities from this center with the large motor area.
BLOCKS
This active area promotes muscle development, coordination and cognitive thinking skills. A variety of large and small blocks are complimented with cars, trucks, road signs and even road mats.
WRITING
This is the area where children are encouraged to write letters, words and numbers unto paper. They also have the opportunity to write in their Journals. We have a type writer for children to use and practice hand co-ordination. Area is labeled, stocked with writing paper, stickers, envelopes, stamps, pencils & felt pens.
